Gigs Weekly ~ Anti-Kingsday Edition

Updated: 3 days ago

It is another Monday, time for a new dosis of concerts. This Wednesday in the Netherlands is Kingsday, where we celebrate the kings birthday. There are always lots of activities and festivals around Kingsday, most of the festivals around this day are dance based. I have found one festifal though that seems interesting. Two bands are playing that I like. One of those bands will be highlighted down below. So the festival I am talking about is, Des Koningsfest in the Burgerweeshuis Garden in Deventer. The 2 bands I like are, The Grand East and Money and The Man. Also playing that day are Jerry Leger, 4B2M, Pronk and Jake La Botz. If you are interested in finding any new bands, I would suggest this festival for you and the good thing, its free!

A good dosis of rock, is what everybody needs right, every once in a while? I have seen this 2 man band live for the first time at Pedro Pico Pop, a couple of years. back. I remember being impressed by how much noise 2 guys can produce. Good noise don't get me wrong. And these guys are entertaining, they have such a high level of energy which makes it impossible to walk a way. So I have been following these guys ever since and every time they play in the neighborhood I go see them.

Fortunately for me, they play a lot, and are from Zwolle so they do tend to play near by. Have I been able to interest you yet? No, well, could I interest you in a beer then? As I will be at the show as the barkeeper. So if you are curious who this anonymous blogger is come to the concert. Or score one of the posters as shown above!

29-04-2022: Hang Youth - Burgerweeshuis Deventer

29-04-2022: Hangh Youth - e some Dutch bands still making Dutch language punk. I found this band on the Paaspop line up and had to check it out. At first glance I thought this was a hiphop act but when I was reading the bio I found that they are a punk band. This band can be compared to De Heideroosje, they do what punk does best, criticize societiy, with a lot of irony and a lot of humor. Their song Belastingdienst (the dutch tax agency) always makes me laugh. If you have the chance to see them live, please do this will be fun I promise. But I suggest taking your ear plugs, because it will be loud.

If you would ask me what is one of your moms favorite bands, then Mother's Finest certainly comes to ming. I have had a good musical upbringing, if I say so myself, with fro my mothers side Mother's Finest, Eric Clapton and Frank Zappa, and from my dad's side the Golden Earring, Nina Hagen and Doe Maar. This band has been around for 50 years and counting, but they still know how to put on a show, so don't underestimate them. If you are not ttfrom my mother's age and don't have a clue what this is, if you like Blues Pills or DeWolff you might like this.

And finally we end with on of my favorite bands of all time, Frank Turner, and I am so excited! He is so good live, and his band the Sleeping Souls are aweome too. Frank Turner is a master in the folk punk genre, an acoustic guitar or like now a full on band, it is always a party when Frank Turner is in the house. I am going to this show and it will be the first time boyfriend is joining me to see him. I will right a concert review when I get the change.

Well that is it for this week, next week I will be back to go over all the exciting new concerts coming up.

PS. for all of these concerts there are there are still tickets available, if you click on the title it will bring you to the ticketing page. I am looking forward to the concerts I have planned.
